A cylindrical fuse is a type of electrical fuse that has a straight, tube-like (cylindrical) shape. It's designed to protect circuits by breaking the electrical connection if too much current flows through it — basically acting as a safety device to prevent overheating, fires, or damage to other components.
Shape: It looks like a small tube, often made of ceramic, glass, or plastic.
Inside: There's a thin metal wire or strip inside that melts when current exceeds a certain limit.
Use: Common in electronic devices, automotive systems, and industrial equipment.
Sizes: They come in various diameters and lengths (e.g., 5x20mm, 10x38mm) depending on voltage and current ratings.
Replacement: When a cylindrical fuse blows, it has to be physically replaced — it's not resettable like some circuit breakers.
