Five Golden Rules for Choosing the Right Cam Switch

Choosing a cam switch is not just a matter of picking up any one. There are many tricks involved. Remember these five key points to ensure that you can choose the most suitable one.

First, look at the current and voltage. This is the most basic, just like you need to know the size of your feet before buying shoes. AC or DC? How many volts? How much current? If these parameters are not matched, it will be useless if you buy it. Ordinary household equipment may only need 10A, but industrial equipment often requires more than 30A.

Second, count the number of contacts. Just like the switches at home have single control and double control, the number of contacts of the cam switch determines how many circuits it can control. To control the forward and reverse rotation of the motor, at least 3 contacts are required, and complex automation equipment may require 6 or even more. Buying too little is not enough, and buying too much is a waste of money.

Third, look at the protection level. If there is a lot of dust and oil in the factory workshop, you have to choose a waterproof and dustproof model above IP65. If it is used in a clean control cabinet, IP40 is enough. Don't buy low-protection ones just to save money, or they will break down soon.

Fourth, consider the mode of operation. Manual rotation is the most common, but for automatic control, you have to choose electric drive. There are also intelligent ones with position feedback, which can communicate directly with PLC. They are more expensive, but they are highly automated.

Finally, don't forget the installation method. Panel installation, rail installation, and direct fixation, each method has a different switch structure. Measure the size of the installation space before buying, so that you won't be embarrassed if you can't install it.
